Last week, the USNS Comfort, a massive floating hospital ship, set sail to provide relief to Haiti.  Now in Port-au-Prince, the ship, commanded by BC alumnus and Savannah native James Ware, is providing medical supplies and care to earthquake victims.  The Comfort, with approximately 550 medical staff and 60 civilian mariners, has been treating critically injured victims of last week’s earthquake.

Ware assumed command of the Comfort in 2008.  The nephew of the late Father Joseph Ware, he and his wife, Francie Considine Ware, live in Annapolis, MD with their four children.  A Navy Captain, Ware earned a biology degree from Emory University and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia.
