March 8: Update from our Principal, Jacob Horne

Dear BC Family,

We hope you had a great weekend.  It is hard to believe that we are now in the final quarter of the school year.  Report cards will be available for viewing on myBC on Thursday, 3/12.

We do not mean to cause concern, however, we know that COVID-19 is on all of our minds.  Below is quick update.
  • Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19):  We are continuing to monitor closely all news related to the outbreak, including ongoing consultations with health care professionals and our peer schools.  Understanding that a school setting acts as a point of spread, where students can quickly transmit these illnesses to other students and their families, we ask for your support and partnership in helping keep our community healthy and safe.  We are continuing to evaluate and plan for the possibility of interruption to our daily operations.  Please ensure that you and your son have your myBC login information in the case of such an interruption.  Schools abroad have had to move to online learning solutions during closures and if that were to be needed here, myBC access will be necessary.
  • We are routinely wiping down commonly touched items such as desktops, handrails, doorknobs, and lightswitches with antiviral/fungal/bacterial solution.
  • SAGE dining service is also evalutating and updating their own steps and actions to protect your son(s).
  • For the duration of this outbreak, we are replacing our morning handshake with a simple "good morning" and, at most, a "fist bump."
  • Please do not allow your son to attend school or come to campus if they are ill.
  • Please report any illness your son experiences to Mrs. Ursula Wright (912-644-7000, Ext. 0) with a phone call.
  • If you and your family are planning to travel abroad during Spring Break, we strongly encourage you to pay attention to the CDC travel advisories, and think twice before traveling with your family to an area where the virus has spread.
Thank you again for choosing Benedictine Military School.  Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Jacob Horne
