June 17: Notification from our Principal, Jacob Horne

Dear BC Family,

We believe "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." We have spent a significant amount of time planning for the coming school year and, fortunately, those plans have prepared us for the likelihood that COVID-19 would directly impact our campus. As you may expect, part of our plan is active communication with our families, which is why I write this message.

On June 17, we were notified by a parent of a summer camp attendee that their child tested positive for COVID-19. This particular camp was located in an isolated wing of our academic building and was the only camp in that part of our campus.

Following our new safety protocols, the asymptomatic camper was immediately isolated and removed from camp. Everyone associated with this camp were directly notified and advised by our St. Joseph’s/Candler Athletic Trainers. The remaining camp participants were isolated and picked up by their parents. The camp staff was also sent home. Per our protocols, the section of the academic building involved was immediately closed off and will be sanitized and disinfected.

As a reminder, we have partnered with JC Lewis' Primary Health Center Mobile Unit. They will be at BC to offer testing on Tuesday, 6/23, and Thursday, 6/25, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The test will be free to you and your son(s); however, you will need to pre-register (HERE). If you have insurance, please present your insurance card in person, although, insurance is not required. Spaces are limited, so sign up quickly if you wish to take advantage of this resource.

The used uniform sale on June 17 (3:00-6:00PM) is being moved outdoors as an additional precaution. Thank you again for choosing Benedictine Military School and for your trust in us to provide a safe environment for your child. We anticipated this day, and as I say in our video, "we can do this." God bless.

Sincerely,

Jacob Horne
Principal
