Benedictine vs Marist Matchup

"I've met Coach Chadwick at some clinics and conferences, but I've never got to sit down and talk with him like I wish I could," Britt said. "But he is a great coach with a well-earned reputation. He's old-school and runs the triple option out of the Wishbone, but they have some modern aspects to it."
The weather forecast was calling for likely showers on Friday night, which might seem to play in the favor of an offense with such a ground based approach like Marist. But Benedictine has an offense that can shift gears to focus on the run or pass with its talented group of players. The Cadets ran for 570 yards with 11 rushing touchdowns in an 80-32 win over Central-Carrollton last week.
"It's difficult as a defense to prepare for the triple option because you don't see it very often anymore," Britt said. "We've spent a lot of time working with the guys. They have to be very specific and extremely disciplined and tough to slow it down."
The Cadets had six players sign on Wednesday in one of the biggest Signing Days in school history.
Four-star receiver Bubba Frazier signed with Notre Dame, while Kam Cody, another 4-Star at defensive tackle, signed with Clemson. Five-star edge LaDamion Guyton signed with Texas Tech, where he will continue as a teammate with the Cadets star quarterback Stephen Cannon, who also signed with the Red Raiders. Originally in the 2027 class, Guyton reclassified to 2026. Defensive back Micah Williams is headed to App State and offensive tackle Carlton Hall signed with Liberty.
The Cadet run game is averaging 263 yards per game, with junior Stanley Smart Jr. leading the team with 963 yards and 11 touchdowns. Cannon is also a big-time threat in the run game — he has rushed for 537 yards and seven touchdowns, while throwing for 1,908 yards with 22 touchdowns and four interceptions.
His top targets are Frazier (42 catches for 631 yards and 10 touchdowns), junior Eron Mallard (25 receptions for 500 yards and seven scores) and Joshua Washington (31 catches for 459 yards and a score).
Senior linebacker Jayden Houston is having a breakout season in his first year as a starter. He leads the team with 95 tackles, and his classmate Larson Little has 71 stops at linebacker.
Marist is back in the state semifinals for the third year in a row after the War Eagles knocked off defending state champion North Oconee. Tyler Baradel converted on a 34-yard field goal, his third of the night, as time ran out to lift Marist to the 23-20 win.
The War Eagles got a boost from a trick play when running back Owen Rice hit Hamilton Feldman with a 57-yard scoring pass. Quarterback James Lasco had 82 yards passing and rushed for 76 yards in the win. Parks Kaiser had 66 yards rushing and a score on 19 carries.
Marist senior Jack Richerson, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound standout tight end and defensive lineman, signed with Georgia Tech Wednesday.
