Benedictine had three senior baseball players sign in Mason O'Neil, who is headed to Flagler College, along with Mason Diamond (South Georgia State College) and Colvin Proto (Marion Military Institute).
O'Neil is a left-handed pitcher and first baseman who will be a pitcher at Flagler, the Division II program that competes in the Sun Belt Conference. He struck out 58 batters in 39 innings last year and hit .371 with two homers and 19 RBIs to earn Region 1-4A Rookie of the Year honors.
Proto posted an ERA of 3.18 with 51 strikeouts in 55 innings and was also an All-Region selection. He is headed to Marion Military Institute, a junior college in Alabama.
Diamond is a standout catcher for the Cadets and was an All-Greater Savannah first-team pick last year when he hit .353 with three homers, 30 RBIs, with a .510 slugging percentage and an OPS of .945. He will also start out his college career at the junior college level at South Georgia State College.
"I'm really proud of all three of them because they are players that just love to work," Benedictine coach Jason Pascual said. "They come to the park every day, put on a hard hat and get after it. We're looking forward to this season with their contributions on the field and as leaders of our team."
