ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Survivors' Club to meet at 12 p.m. June 16 in BC Cafeteria

By Noell Barnidge

The BC Survivors’ Club is a group for all alumni who attended the old BC on Bull Street (1902-63), as well as alumni who have celebrated their 50th reunion. The group meets for lunch on the third Monday of even months. More than 100 “BC Survivors” typically attend these luncheons. The next gathering will be at 12 p.m. June 16 in BC Cafeteria.

On April 8, 2002, BC alumni Mr. S.T. McTeer, Mr. Herbie Griffin, and Mr. Frank Finocchiaro created the Survivors' Club as a way to bring their classmates together to reminisce about their days at the Bull Street campus. The initial classes represented were from 1938-44. Soon, word got out and the membership was expanded to include other classes. The one stipulation was that all new members had to have attended school on the original campus at 34th and Bull streets. Eventually, Mr. Charlie Moore and Mr. Henry Hall took over the day-to-day duties associated with the club.

Sadly, we lost Mr. Griffin (BC Class of 1938) on April 9, 2025. He celebrated his 103rd birthday Jan. 16, and was BC's oldest-living graduate. Mr. Moore (BC Class of 1955) and Mr. Mike Carter (BC Class of 1962), who coordinate the club, ask that you please attend Survivors' Club events if you've had your 50th class reunion. They want to remind you that the Survivors' Club is no longer limited to those who attended the old BC on Bull Street.
