The Cross Country team delivered standout performances this weekend at the OrthoWest Invitational, held on what is considered the most challenging course they’ll face all season — the same demanding terrain that will host the GHSA State Meet on November 7th in Carrollton. For South Georgia teams, testing themselves on the hilly North Georgia course is crucial, and our athletes rose to the challenge.
Competing against 39 teams and 336 runners, the team showed just how far they’ve come. Cole Minnich led the way with a stellar 13th-place finish, clocking 16:28.01 — a time faster than his performance at last year’s State Meet and a strong statement against some of the best runners in Georgia.
Also surpassing their State Meet times from last season were Asher Herrin, Will Hoffman, and Tucker Hollis, each displaying impressive early-season form and setting the tone for what’s to come.
A standout performance came from Ben Harvey, who set a new personal record of 18:30, while Wyatt Nolen and Pete Rosario smashed their previous bests — each improving by nearly a full minute. Ved Patel and Fischer Valbuena matched their PRs, showing consistency, focus, and grit.
With results like these, the team is building serious momentum. The progress is evident, and the potential is sky-high as the season continues.
