  • School Records for Carson, Smart

The team delivered a strong performance at the Bolles Bulldog Classic, hosted by the Jacksonville school, one of the premier track meets in the Southeast. The meet featured 60 schools and an exceptionally deep field of competitors across multiple events.
BC finished 3rd overall, scoring 69.33 points, behind track and cross-country powerhouse Belen Jesuit Preparatory School of Miami. Belen Jesuit, a Catholic school serving 1,400 boys in grades 6–12, is the defending 2025 Florida State Champion. Lincoln High School of Tallahassee finished 2nd with 70.50 points. Lincoln is a coeducational public high school with approximately 1,860 students.  Considering the size and strength of the competing programs, BC’s 3rd-place finish was an outstanding team performance against some of the top programs in Florida and the Southeast.
BC Senior, Max Carson, delivered a clutch performance in the shot put, competing against a field of 53 throwers. He opened strong with a throw of 51'9.25", then improved on his second attempt with 51'10.50". On his third throw, Max delivered his best mark of 52'11.75", securing 1st place, setting a personal record (PR), and establishing a new school record, breaking his previous mark of 52'9".
Earlier in the meet, Max also competed in the discus, where he placed 2nd out of 56 throwers with a throw of 148'10", capping off an excellent overall performance in both throwing events.
The boys’ 100-meter dash alone highlighted the scale of the competition. With 171 runners, the event required 26 sections. Stanley Smart, Jr. and Eron Mallard finished 1, 2 in the 100m. among the runners!!  Stanley also placed 1st in the 200m dash (21.50), breaking the 2018 record (21.71) held by Dennis Bailey, Jr. The meet served as an excellent midseason preview as teams continue preparing for championship competition later this spring. Performances at the Bolles Bulldog Classic provided a strong indication of where athletes stand as the season progresses and helped build momentum heading into the second half of the schedule.

  • Exciting Season for Track & Field

Coach Houston and his staff have elevated the Cadets' Track & Field program to new heights in recent years. With two meets on the schedule this week, many athletes are stepping outside their comfort zones and trying new events to build depth across the team. The experienced veterans have embraced leadership roles, working closely with the younger Cadets on explosive starts, smooth baton exchanges, and proper running and throwing form.
One standout Senior Cadet, Meyer Hagin, has set his sights on becoming a decathlete—a rare and demanding pursuit that requires mastering ten events. Finding meets that include specialized events like the javelin can be challenging, but his commitment to expanding his skill set reflects the drive and determination that define this team.
The Cadets once again demonstrated their depth, speed, and strength at SCDS Meet #3, showcasing the progress and unity that continue to push the program forward.

Athletes continue to set personal bests, and several are on track to break school records. It’s an exciting start to the season for the sprinters and throwers as they prepare for the State Championships in May.

  • Hagin Competes in AAU Junior Olympics

Congratulations to senior Meyer Hagin as he delivered a standout performance in the decathlon at the 2025 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Houston. He achieved personal records (PRs) in six events: 100m Dash, 400m Dash, 1500m Run, High Jump, Pole Vault, and secured 1st place in the Javelin with an impressive throw of 156'11"! Overall, Meyer boosted his total score by 160 points from his previous decathlon just a month ago, finishing with 4,608 points and placing 25th overall in a highly competitive field. The decathlon is a grueling two-day event consisting of 10 track and field challenges, testing an athlete’s speed, strength, endurance, and versatility across sprints, distance runs, jumps, and throws. Meyer set the school record in the Discus this spring with a throw of 157'7". Way to go, Meyer – your hard work and progress are truly inspiring!
