  • Benedictine Military School dominates spring Coach of the Year honors

    The Savannah Morning News recently announced its Spring Sports Coaches of the Year, and BC claimed four of the six honors awarded. This remarkable achievement is a testament to BC’s continued excellence across its athletic programs and a reflection of the school’s strong leadership on and off the field. These accolades underscore the dedication, talent, and relentless work ethic of the coaching staff. Their guidance leads to wins on the scoreboard and fosters growth, discipline, and sportsmanship among the student-athletes. The recognition further cements BC’s reputation as a powerhouse in high school athletics.

    The Savannah Morning News honors the top athletes and coaches in their sport.
    Tennis honors:
    Coach of the Year: Heather Hawkins
     Hawkins is the Boys' Tennis Coach of the Year. Her Cadet squad had another strong season as BC advanced to the Class 4A state quarterfinals.
    1st Team
    Liam Hegarty, senior
    Hegarty closed out his prep career with another strong season for the Cadets, as he helped lead the Cadets to a Region 1-4A title and to the third round of the Class 4A playoffs playing in the No. 1 singles spot. He had a record of 8-4.

  • Four Cadets Players of the Year

    The Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards Banquet, hosted by The Savannah Morning News and the Georgia Ports, is a prestigious annual event honoring the top high school athletes and coaches across the area. This celebration recognizes first-team selections in the various sports, highlighting the skill, dedication, and achievements of the student-athletes throughout the Coastal Empire. During the event, the highly anticipated Players of the Year are recognized.  Four Cadets received this honor.
    Defensive Football Player of the Year: Herbert "Third" Scroggins
    Scroggins, who enrolled early at the University of Miami, had a banner season. The star edge was the Region 1 AAAA Defensive POY and was an All State Class AAAA 1st Team honoree. He had 86 tackles and 21 sacks, the most in the state.
    Boys' Basketball: Caleb Jones
    This year, Jones averaged 31.7 points and 7.2 rebounds and was the Region 1AAAA POY. The senior closed out his career with 2288 points and led the cadets to the Sweet 16 after trips to the Final Four the past two seasons. He was 2nd Team All Georgia and 1st Team Class AAAA.  He had 17 games with at least 30 points and scored a career high 57 in a win over Patriot and 49 in a win with New Hampstead.
    Boys' Golf: Bear Dollander
    The sophomore won the individual Class AAAA State Championship. He won medalist honors in four tournaments this spring leading the Cadets to the Region title. The sophomore is receiving much D1 college interest.
    Boys' Lacrosse: Wyatt Estabrook
    The three sport athlete had an impressive lacrosse season for the Cadets, who won the Area 4 Division 2 Championship. Estabrook was a key player as a midfielder for a team that advanced to the state quarterfinals. He had 25 goals, 33 assists and picked up 40 ground balls.

    BC TENNIS TEAM ADVANCES TO ELITE EIGHT!!!!
    Benedictine Military School defeated East Forsyth, 3-1, today at Bacon Park in the second round of the GHSA Class AAAA Tennis playoffs! BC’s winners were: Singles - Lachlan McIntosh 6-4, 7-5; Henry Montavon 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Doubles - Marcos Simón/Christopher Cordasco 6-4, 7-5. Liam Hegarty’s match was retired due to the overall win. He split sets 3-6, 6-2, and was tied 2-2 when pulled.

    FINAL (Tennis, GHSA Class AAAA first-round playoffs): Benedictine 4, Druid Hills 0. BC advances to the second round and will play East Forsyth at 2 p.m. Monday at Bacon Park! BC’s singles winners: Lachlan McIntosh 6-0, 6-0; Henry Montavon 6-3, 7-5. BC’s doubles winners: Walker Sheffield/Matt Tift 7–6 (7-5T), 6-4; Marcos Simón/Christopher Cordasco 6-0, 6-4. Cadet Liam Hegarty’s match was pulled due to BC’s overall win. His score was 6-2 for the first set and he was winning, 3-2, when match declared.
