  • Savannah Morning News Recognizes Athletes for Winter Sports

    The Savannah Morning News honors the top athletes in each sport across the region. First-team selections will be recognized at the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards ceremony, set for June 5th at the Savannah Convention Center where the "Player of the Year" for each sport will also be announced.
    This year’s First Team All–Greater Savannah selections for wrestling are Aiden Simmons and A. J. West.  Honorable Mention for wrestling were Peter Fallon, Wallace Glover, and Walker Minnich.  Freshmen Joey Leiter and Wilkes Sabogal received Honorable Mention for their swimming season. Basketball Second Team selections were guard Kyree Richards and forward Ca'ron Hall. Congratulations Cadets!

  • Cadets Qualify for GHSA State Swim Championships

    Five Cadets have qualified for the GHSA Class AAAA State Swim Championship, to be held February 3–7 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. Swimmers must meet qualifying time standards set by the GHSA to advance to the state meet.
    The Cadets will compete in two relay events. The 200-yard freestyle relay team consists of Beau Pittman, Ryan Brunson, Wilkes Sabogal, and Joey Leiter. The 200-yard medley relay team includes Joey Leiter, Gaines Sewell, Wilkes Sabogal, and Beau Pittman.
    In individual events, Joey Leiter qualified in the 100-yard backstroke, while Wilkes Sabogal earned state berths in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle.
    After the preliminary heats, the 200-yard relay team and Wilkes Sabogal in the 500-yard freestyle qualified for the finals of state. 
    It is exciting to see such a young and talented group of swimmers qualify for the state championships, representing the Cadets at the highest level of competition.
  • Swimming Region 1AAAA Runner-up

    Congratulations to Benedictine Military School’s swim team, which placed second overall in the Region 1-AAAA meet in Warner Robins on Thursday! BC was led by excellent performances from Beau Pittman, Wilkes Sabogol, and Gaines Sewell, who finished first in the 100 freestyle, 200 free relay, and 100 breast stroke, respectively. Additionally, Sewell finished second in the 200 IM, Pittman placed second in the 50 free, Sabogol finished second in the 500 free, and Joey Leiter finished second in the 100 freestyle. Several Cadets qualified for the GHSA state meet in February. Ryan Brunson, Pittman, Sabogal, and Leiter will compete in the 200 free relay. Sabogal qualified to compete in the 100 fly and the 500 free. Congratulations to all of our swimmers on an excellent showing and good luck to our state qualifying swimmers in February!
  • Team 6th at Pumpkin Plunge

    Benedictine Military School’s swim team finished sixth in the 2025 Pumpkin Plunge at the Aquatic Center on Saturday. BC senior co-captain John Thompson’s strong performance in four events led all of our swimmer as they improved their times in their respective events. We look forward to this week as our full team reports and we prepare for our next regional meet in January. Thanks to BC Athletics Director Mr. Jack Holland ‘03, and all of our parents and faculty who came out to support our team. Go Cadets! 
  • Swim Season off to Good Start

    Benedictine Military School’s swim team competed in the 2025 Hornet Invitational at the Chatham County Aquatic Center on Saturday and placed third overall. BC was led by strong showings in the relay events, where the 200 medley relay team of Joey Lieter, Gaines Sewall, Wilkes Sabogal, and Ryan Brunson placed fourth. The 200 free relay team of John Thompson, Hobie Leonard, Grady Chadwell, and Maximus Pretorius also placed fourth. In individual competitions, Leiter placed second in the 100 backstroke and Sabogal finished fourth. “Thanks to the parents and Dr. Horne for coming out to support the team,” BC Swimming Head Coach Dr. John Sutlive said. “Our next meet will be Sat., Nov. 8, at the Aquatic Center. Go Cadets!”
