The Benedictine Military School rifle team continued its impressive postseason run Tuesday night, defeating Woodward Academy 1128–1107 in the GHSA Riflery Sectionals.
Entering the match as the No. 4 seed from Area 3, the Cadets traveled to Atlanta to face the Area 8 No. 3 seed on an unfamiliar range. Despite the long road trip and new surroundings, Benedictine delivered its highest match score in the past eight years.
Junior Logan Price led the way with an outstanding 286. He was backed by Cooper Winters (283), Briggs Garletts (280), and Matthew Taylor, who posted a 279 — a personal record performance.
With the victory, the Cadets advance to the semifinals of the GHSA Riflery Tournament. They will face the winner of the matchup between Clarke Central High School (No. 5 seed, Region 4) and Carrollton High School (No. 2 seed, Region 7).
The semifinal match is scheduled for March 4, with the state championship set for March 14 at Ware County High School.
The Cadets’ record-setting performance signals strong momentum as they continue their pursuit of a state title.
