  • BC Rifle Season Ends with Tough Semi-Final Loss to Carrollton

    The season has come to an end for the Benedictine Military School Rifle Team, losing a close GHSA Semi-Final match to Carrollton High School, 1128 – 1119.  Despite the Cadets shooting their second highest team score this season, it wasn’t enough to overcome Carrollton’s best performance of the year.  Junior Logan Price led BC’s effort with a score of 288.  The other qualifying shooters for BC were Cooper Winters (281), Sebastian Balmes (278, PR), and Briggs Garletts (272).  The Cadets close the season with a final record of 9-4, their most successful season in the last decade.

  • Rifle Team Hopes for State Title

    The Benedictine Military School rifle team continued its impressive postseason run Tuesday night, defeating Woodward Academy 1128–1107 in the GHSA Riflery Sectionals.
    Entering the match as the No. 4 seed from Area 3, the Cadets traveled to Atlanta to face the Area 8 No. 3 seed on an unfamiliar range. Despite the long road trip and new surroundings, Benedictine delivered its highest match score in the past eight years.
    Junior Logan Price led the way with an outstanding 286. He was backed by Cooper Winters (283), Briggs Garletts (280), and Matthew Taylor, who posted a 279 — a personal record performance.
    With the victory, the Cadets advance to the semifinals of the GHSA Riflery Tournament. They will face the winner of the matchup between Clarke Central High School (No. 5 seed, Region 4) and Carrollton High School (No. 2 seed, Region 7).
    The semifinal match is scheduled for March 4, with the state championship set for March 14 at Ware County High School.
    The Cadets’ record-setting performance signals strong momentum as they continue their pursuit of a state title.
  • BC Rifle Wins Sectional Match at Woodward Academy

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team (4th Seed, Area 3) won their GHSA Riflery Sectionals match at Woodward Academy (3rd Seed, Area 8) on Tuesday, 1128 – 1107.  Despite the long road trip to Atlanta and shooting on an unfamiliar range, the Cadets achieved their highest match score in the past 8 years.  Junior Logan Price led the team with a score of 286.  The other qualifying shooters for BC were Cooper Winters (283), Briggs Garletts (280), and Matthew Taylor (279, PR).  The Cadets now wait to learn their next opponent in the Semi-Final Round of the GHSA Riflery Tournament…stay tuned.

  • BC Rifle Closes out Regular Season with Road Win over Bradwell Institute

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team closed out the regular season with a consistent road win over Bradwell Institute, 1100 – 979.  Senior team captain Cooper Winters led the Cadets with a score of 278.  The other qualifying shooters for BC were Briggs Garletts (276), Logan Price (274), and Matthew Taylor (272).  BC finishes the regular season with an overall record of 8-3 in GHSA Area 3 – qualifying as the 4th seed for the GHSA Riflery Sectional playoffs.  The Cadets will travel to Woodward Academy (3rd seed, GHSA Area 8) for their Sectional match next Tuesday, 17 Feb,  at 2pm.

  • BC Rifle Secures Convincing Win over Savannah High

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team improved to 7-3 on the season with a convincing win over visiting Savannah High, 1112 – 860.  Junior Logan Price led the Cadets with a score of 287, while senior Team Captain Cooper Winters tied his personal best with a 284.  Briggs Garletts (271) and Matthew Taylor (270) rounded out the qualifying shooters for BC.  The Cadets will close out the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to Bradwell Institute in Hinesville.

  • BC Rifle Celebrates Senior Night with Win Over Brunswick

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team celebrated its Senior Night with a strong win over Brunswick High School, 1115 – 1076.  This was the highest match score of the season for the Cadets and they improved their overall record to 6-3.  Seniors Cooper Winters and Logan Bayman were recognized during the match.  Qualifying shooters for BC were Logan Price (282), Cooper Winters (281), Briggs Garletts (277), and Matthew Taylor, who tied his PR score (275).  The Cadets will host Savannah High School next Monday, 9 February.

  • BC Rifle Gets the Win at Groves

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team (5-3) returned to the win column with a convincing victory over Groves High School, 1098 – 973.  Freshman Briggs Garletts led the Cadets with an outstanding score of 286 (PR), especially for a first-year shooter.  Other qualifying shooters for BC were Cooper Winters (283), Logan Price (274), and Sebastian Balmes (255).  The Cadets will host Brunswick High School for their next match, to include Senior Night recognition, tonight at 4:30pm.

  • Cadets Drop a Close Match with SVA

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team dropped to 4-3 on the season following a close loss at St. Vincent’s Academy, 1106 – 1100.  Qualifying shooters for BC were Logan Price (288), Cooper Winters (277), Briggs Garletts (269), and Matthew Taylor (266).  The Cadets will look to get back in the win column with their next match at Groves High School on Wednesday.

  • BC Rifle Drops Road Match with Ware Co

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team lost to Ware Co, 1155 – 1102, and dropped to 4-2 on the season.  Ware County is a perennial powerhouse team and their 40-lane, world class shooting complex is the venue for the GHSA State Riflery Tournament both this year and last year.  For the Cadets, Junior Logan Price continued his outstanding season shooting a 284 to lead the team.  Briggs Garletts (275), Cooper Winters (273), and Matthew Taylor (270) rounded out the qualifying scorers for BC.  Freshman Austin Quasha continued to make positive strides, shooting his personal best score of 235.  The Cadets will travel to St. Vincent’s Academy next Tuesday, 3 Feb, for their next match.

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team dropped to 4-1 on the season with a home loss to Camden County HS, 1155 – 1096.  The Cadets were led by junior Logan Price who tied his personal record score of 289.  Other qualifying shooters for BC were senior team captain Cooper Winters (275), Matthew Taylor (273), and Briggs Garletts (259).  Freshman Austin Quasha also shot his personal best score of 227.  On Wednesday, the Cadets will travel to Ware County for their next match.

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team improved to 4-0 on the season with a strong win over visiting Southeast Bulloch HS, 1111-936.  Senior Captain Cooper Winters led the Cadets with a 282, followed closely by Logan Price with a 281.  Freshman Briggs Garletts continued to impress with his personal best score of 275, and Matthew Taylor rounded out BC’s qualifying shooters with a 273.  The Cadets will host Savannah HS for their next match on Wednesday at 5pm.

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team improved to 3-0 on the season with a home victory over Statesboro HS, 1094-1065.  Junior Logan Price shot a personal best 289 to lead the Cadets.  Other qualifying shooters for BC were Cooper Winters (277), Sebastian Balmes (265), and Briggs Garletts (263).  Freshman Austin Quasha continued to make big improvements, shooting his personal best of score of 223.  For their next match, the Cadets will host Southeast Bulloch HS on Tuesday, 20 January.

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team improved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing road win over Glynn Academy, 1102 – 1052.  Senior Team Captain Cooper Winters led the Cadets with his personal best score of 284.  The other qualifying shooters for BC were junior Logan Price (274), freshman Briggs Garletts (272), and junior Matthew Taylor (272).  With his qualifying score, Briggs Garletts lettered in just his second official match.  The Cadets are scheduled to host Savannah High School for their next match on Tuesday, 13 January.
  • BC Rifle Opens Season with Win Over Windsor Forest

    The Benedictine Military School Rifle Team opened their season with a strong win against visiting Windsor Forest High School, 1102 – 1066.  The Cadets were led by junior Logan Price who shot a personal record 285.  Team Captain Cooper Winters shot a 280, and sophomore Sebastian Balmes shot an impressive 269 in his first official match – earning him a varsity letter.  Junior Matthew Taylor rounded out the qualifying shooters for BC with a 268.  A shout out to freshman Briggs Garletts, who shot a 265 in his first match, and just missed being a qualifying shooter for the match.  The Cadets will travel to Glynn Academy on Thursday for their next match.
