  • Football Signing Day for Josh Washington and Jojo Sutton

Teammates Joshua Washington and Jojo Sutton shared plenty of unforgettable moments this season as the Cadets advanced to the Class 4A Football State Championship game. Now, the senior standouts are taking the next step in their football journeys.
Washington signed to continue his career at the University of New Hampshire, while Sutton inked with Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.
“Both athletes are playmakers,” Head Coach Danny Britt said. “They poured everything they had into the season and were a big part of our success. Josh did a lot for us on offense, but (defensive coordinator Galen) Coach Houston always said safety might be his best position. He’s so versatile. Jojo matured a lot this season, became very physical, and was a real asset to the team.” Congratulations to two exceptional Cadets!

  • BC Alumni Headed to National Championship

When the University of Miami and Indiana square off in the National Championship game on Monday, January 19, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Savannah football fans will have plenty of reason to watch. Two Miami Hurricanes' true freshmen — and Benedictine Military School alumni — brothers Herbert “Third” Scroggins and Ralph Scroggins will be part of the title matchup.
Herbert Scroggins, a defensive lineman, has carved out a role in Miami’s rotation during his first collegiate season. A four-star recruit out of Benedictine, Scroggins earned All-Greater Savannah Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior after recording 86 tackles and leading the state across all classifications with 21 sacks.
“Third has been getting in there in the rotation as an end on a really talented defensive front,” Benedictine head coach Danny Britt said. “He’s also getting reps on special teams on the punt and punt return units. Coaching Third was a great experience. He grew into a physical freak and is such a great athlete, but the most important thing is he’s just a great young man who pays attention to detail, works hard, and is respectful. He does everything right and has a bright future at Miami.”
His younger brother, Ralph Scroggins, is an offensive lineman on the Hurricanes’ roster as a preferred walk-on. Ralph has earned a strong reputation for his work ethic both on and off the field. Britt noted that Ralph has traveled with the team throughout the season, a testament to his commitment and value within the program.  Besides their athletic abilities, both were standout scholar-athletes during their high school careers. Benedictine and the Savannah community couldn’t be prouder of the Scroggins brothers as they prepare to compete on college football’s biggest stage.
  • Finocchairo Award Honors Chris "Bubba" Frazier

Bubba Frazier, Benedictine’s standout senior wide receiver and a Notre Dame commit, has been selected as the winner of the 45th Michael Finocchiaro Memorial Outstanding Football Player Award — honoring Savannah’s top high school football player.
Frazier is known for his elite speed, a talent he has showcased not only on the football field but also as a star sprinter for the BC track and field program. His explosiveness and big-play ability make him the primary focus for opposing defensive coordinators, but slowing him down has proved nearly impossible.
“Bubba is a great player and a great person,” Benedictine coach Danny Britt said. “What sets him apart is his character and work ethic. He’s an incredible young man who understands what it means to be a team player, and his speed and athleticism make him amazing on the field.
“He’s worked hard to become an excellent route runner — he’s got quick feet, explosiveness, and strong hands. We’ve used him in the Wildcat, on sweeps, as a dangerous return man, and as a top-tier defensive back,” Britt added. “He’ll do anything we ask, and he’s the guy you count on when you need a play.”
In an era where many athletes seek the spotlight, Frazier stands out for all the right reasons.
“Bubba is a throwback, and I think a lot of that comes from his dad,” Britt said. “He’s quiet, respectful, and always about the team. It’s never about him.”
Winning the award was a meaningful moment for Frazier.
“I was really happy — I wasn’t expecting it, and it shocked me when Coach told me,” Frazier said. “Coach Britt told me my name is now in the history books. That meant a lot. I’m truly blessed.”

  • The Houston Impact on BC

When Jayden Houston arrived at Benedictine to join the Cadet football program—where his father, Galen, a BC alum, serves as defensive coordinator—his journey to a starting role was anything but easy. Jayden worked his way up the hard way, earning respect as a scout team player, then as a backup linebacker and special teams contributor, before finally breaking through as a defensive starter his senior year.
Now, Jayden is adding a new chapter to his family’s Benedictine legacy, playing a key role on a Cadet squad that entered the GHSA playoffs ranked No. 4 in Class 4A by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The significance of this season runs deeper than football. Galen Houston—once a standout Benedictine linebacker who went on to play at Shaw University—now has the rare opportunity to coach his own son on a defense filled with talent. Their shared journey has become a powerful example of perseverance, mentorship, and family tradition within the program.
"I knew Jayden needed development athletically and academically when he came to Benedictine, and that it was going to be a process to achieve his goals," Galen said. "But he has really grinded, and now he's reaping the benefits of his hard work, dedication, and commitment. I'm really proud of him." Jayden wears No. 11, the number his dad wore when he played at Shaw, and is known as "Sticks" to his teammates. On a team full of star power, he has become a leader on the field and in the locker room. He is receiving college recruiting interest from smaller programs in the Southeast.
Together, the Houstons embody the strength of a father–son bond built through discipline, growth, and a shared love for Benedictine football, making their impact on the Cadets’ defense even more meaningful.

  • Football Continues in GHSA Playoffs

Friday, November 28, will mark the sixth consecutive year that BC has reached at least the quarterfinals, a streak that has lasted as long as the Cadets have been in GHSA Class AAAA.
“We talked about that at pregame. You came to Benedictine because I asked you a question: ‘Do you want to be good or great?’ If you want to be good, go somewhere else; if you want to be great, come to Benedictine,” stated Head Coach Danny Britt. “Our culture and expectations are winning championships, winning regional championships, playing on Thanksgiving, winning state championships. That’s the goal, that’s what we do.”
Benedictine will host Central (Carrollton) on Friday at Memorial Stadium at 7:30 PM! BE THERE!!

  • Football Wins Region 1AAAA

The Cadets powered past Perry in dominant fashion, led by Notre Dame commit Bubba Frazier, who showcased his talent on both sides of the ball. Frazier delivered a highlight-reel play with a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown, sealing the game and putting it out of reach for the opponent. Quarterback Stephen Cannon led the offense, throwing three touchdown passes as BC built a 24–3 halftime lead. Cannon connected with Frazier on an 8-yard scoring pass and hit Eron Mallard for long touchdowns of 75 and 43 yards. Parker Lewis added a pair of field goals for the Cadets. Week after week, the defense has set the tone and kept us in games. They don’t just defend — they dominate!  The victory marks Benedictine’s fifth region title in the last six years and the 10th in 15 seasons under head coach Danny Britt.
With the win, BC (6–2, 4–0) remains unbeaten in region play and will close out the regular season Thursday, Oct. 30, at Pooler Stadium against New Hampstead (2–7, 1–3). Let’s pack the stands and show our support for our favorite football team! Go Cadets!
  • Cadets Rally for Thrilling Win Over Ware County in Region Showdown

On Friday night, Benedictine Military School avenged last season's loss to Ware County with an impressive 30-27 Region 1-4A road victory at "The Swamp" in Waycross. The Cadets showed grit and determination, rallying from a 21-10 deficit midway through the second quarter to hand the previously unbeaten Gators their first loss of the season.
Benedictine trailed 21-16 at halftime but delivered a dominant second-half performance to close out the game. The win marks a statement victory for Head Coach Danny Britt, now in his 15th season leading the Cadets — a tenure that includes four state championships.
“This is a huge win for us,” said Britt. “To go toe-to-toe with Ware County in one of the toughest places to play in the state means a lot to us.”
A huge thank-you goes out to the BC fans — especially the students — who made the trip to support their Cadets on the road!
Up next: Benedictine returns home to Memorial Stadium next Friday, October 3rd, to host Warner Robins for Homecoming.
